In response to the agreements between the Mississippi River Basin States to reduce nutrient loading to the Gulf of Mexico’s hypoxic zone, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is pursuing a rulemaking effort to implement requirements for reduction of Total Phosphorus. By targeting facilities with a design flow greater than 1 MGD, as well as industrial facilities designated “Major,” approximately 90% of wastewater effluent in the state would be subject to this reduction strategy. DNR staff have stated that they would like to begin the formal rulemaking process mid-year in 2022. In this webinar, DNR staff will discuss future regulatory and permitting requirements, as well as some potential implementation strategies. This webinar will be a good opportunity for MWEA members to ask questions and provide public comments on the draft rule prior to beginning the formal rulemaking process.

Operator credit from DNR will be offered. This webinar is FREE & open to MWEA members only.
